From Soil to Soul: My Journey

Who I am

My life has unfolded the way a field learns its seasons—through storms, droughts, unexpected growth, and the quiet work happening beneath the surface. I married my best friend in 1996, became a mother in 1998, and in 2010, loss split my world open. Grief rearranged my inner landscape, leaving parts of me overgrown and others stripped bare. My nervous system lived in survival mode for years, and I drifted into places that didn’t nourish me.

 

Healing wasn’t optional, but it wasn’t immediate either. I went down precarious paths before I understood that I needed tools, structure, and community to take care of myself. When I began farming, something in me finally exhaled. The land gave my system a chance to recalibrate. The rhythms of planting, tending, harvesting, and resting slowly rewired me. The soil steadied me. The seasons taught me what my body had forgotten: how to regulate, how to listen, how to grow again.

 

Farming didn’t just feed my family—it healed me. It gave me a place to put my hands when my heart was too heavy. It taught me that resilience isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something you cultivate. It showed me that we don’t erase our past—we compost it. We turn what once felt heavy into nourishment for what comes next.

 

Vital Earth Living began as my small farm, but it has grown into something deeper: a healing and lifestyle practice rooted in the same earth‑based wisdom that saved me.

My Work Today

I guide people through the same slow, sustainable healing that helped me rebuild my life. My approach blends nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, sustainable living, gardening wisdom, and the emotional intelligence that comes from surviving deep loss.

 Why I Do This Work

I do this because I know what it feels like to lose your footing.  

I know what it feels like to live in a body that’s overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected.  

I know what it feels like to rebuild from the ground up.

 

And I know that healing is possible—not through force, but through tending.

 

The earth taught me how to come home to myself.  

Now I help others do the same.
